Read about ... The Heartland Watercolours (1)
There's a whole story or two behind how I came to develop the style of the Heartland Watercolours (read more in How I got to the place I'm in now and The Heartland Watercolours (2), but the result is art that comes straight from the heart. No messing, just my own spontaneous natural way of drawing combined with bold bright colours that soar and swirl and amaze even me by finding a life of their own.
I named the series The Heartland Watercolours after much soul-searching, as well as researching. I wanted to find a name that felt just right and particularly that conveyed a sense of the title I thought of first, which was actually a German phrase to honour my Austrian heritage through my mum, who was also, basically, the best person in the world. I had a few options, but 'Heartland' came very close to what I was thinking of and in the end it seemed to make the decision for me - Heartland was now the name of the place I'd found inside me just waiting to be shown to the world.
